Investing in Stem Cells: Wait Until 2008

By Ian Cooper

Friday Jun 22, 2007

President Bush has his reasons for vetoing stem cell research legislation.  And, as much as some Republicans and Democrats alike may not like that decision, it has to be respected.  That doesn’t mean stem cell legislation will never pass, though.  It may not pass under the Bush Administration, but it’s as close to a sure thing if a stem cell advocating Administration takes over in 2009.

As of now, do not buy stem cell stocks (STEM, ASTM, GERN) yet.  Wait until we have a better view of who stands to take office.  If both the Democratic and Republican potentials sway toward stem cell advocacy in the primary outcomes, buying the above-mentioned stem cell companies is a good bet.  It’d also a good bet that Bush’s veto of public funding for embryonic s stem cell research will take top priority given strong support in public opinion polls, as is candidate realization that 60% of American voters back stem cell research.

As for the timing of the STEM, ASTM and GERN buys, be sure to stay tuned to Early Alert Trader for specific buy information on the underlying stocks and options.

Take care,
Ian L. Cooper
