Option Trading: A Crash Course

An option is an intangible financial instrument that gives you the right to buy or sell a specific underlying security at a specific price, and within a set time period.
Let me break down every piece of that definition for you: Intangible financial instrument means it has no physical value; it is a contract, a right, and a way to leverage capital. But it's also an investment—that is, it can be bought and sold. Once you buy an option, you can resell it to another investor for a profit or loss, but only until expiration. After expiration, the option is worthless.
Options are flexible. Notice that options give the buyer a right, not an obligation.That is, you choose whether you want to exercise that right. It's up to you whether you want to exercise the option, sell it, or let it expire. Read more...

Profits At The Speed Of News: Trading Extreme Volatility

What is extreme volatility trading? In short, the system involves buying a stock—or options on the stock—shortly before it makes a quick move in price, then selling quickly to lock in the gains. Being able to accurately predict these price moves requires advance receipt of news or information likely to affect the stock price in a positive or negative way.

Follow The Money: This Trading on Insider Information Is Completely Legal!

Market movements, both upward and downward, are products of collective human activity, activities occurring according to patterns with analogies in nature. As such, they can be monitored and (to a certain degree) predicted with reasonable accuracy.
If you apply this concept to single stocks rather than entire markets, this human behavior leaves its traces in the daily data flow, data that can be collected, compiled, and collated. Daily, weekly, monthly prices can be analyzed using Japanese candlesticks (more on that later). Applying mathematical formulas, you can manage your analysis of long-term trends using moving averages. Putting earnings and dividends into the equation, you can obtain P/E ratios and other standard analytical goodies that are the foundation of all the typical indicators. Read more...
