Taser International Inc. (TASR:NASDAQ) just announced that it will be unveiling a new product in 2007: a new taser for regular citizens that is purchased inactive until a background check is passed by the purchaser… courtesy of TASR's SureCheck program.
TASR is up slightly again today, moving back toward support.
The New York Times Company (NYT:NYSE) also had some news today: it finally sold its Broadcast Media Group, as expected, to Oak Hill Capital Partners for $575 million. The deal should close by the first quarter of 2007. NYT's Broadcast Media Group consists of nine television stations around the country.
NYT also announced its fourth-quarter earnings announcement will take place on January 31. NYT's stock is already taking back half of yesterday's losses this morning.
Material Profits
The news for some commodities is bad... related to their superb performances last year. For some, this bump in the road is merely that, but for others, it could send them careening off the side of a cliff.
Copper, for example, has investors backpedaling as quickly as they can. This dull metal has shed nearly 25% since the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2006.
We'll explore what this drop could signal, and how much further it could go, in tonight's Market Report.
Trading Tactics
Picking up on what Sara said, crude-oil futures are attempting to rally this morning - but it's been quite a struggle.
As I write, prices have pushed below $55 a barrel, hitting $54.96 in electronic trade, marking the lowest level since June 2005.
Will this level act as a support point?
Let's watch it close and follow up tonight in Market Report.
