Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO:NASDAQ) is suing Apple Inc. (AAPL:NASDAQ) over the name iPhone. It seems that the router folks have owned it ever since they bought out Infogear in 2000, and have been shipping cordless phones under that name since December. 

Apple's response: “We think Cisco's trademark lawsuit is silly.” 

Seriously: Steve Jobs has waded into a hypercompetitive market famed for discounting products five months after they are launched… with a phone that costs five Benjamins. 

Is this the next iPod, or the next Newton?

An update for those of you holding shares of Almost Family Inc. (AFAM:NASDAQ)…

The company's stock is splitting 2-for-1 this month. The payable date is January 12 (tomorrow) and the ex date for the split is January 16. 

Make sure to put it on your calendar so you're not caught off surprise…
